Spam, in RL, is a meat "product" found in blue cans. In TIM, SPAM is garbage, quite literally. When a programmed object begins to go haywire, when a puppet continually spits lines of text onto your screen, when you get lagged and suddenly your screen scrolls up past its storing limit, that's SPAM. Any kind of overdone, wasteful, or verbose output is also called SPAM. To prevent SPAM: either HALT the offending item, set things QUIET or !PUPPET, or just shut up.
